Coming in like a Lion

Fall sports have officially wrapped up at WSCS.  What a busy, productive, and exciting time it is to be a Lion.  As new members of the Central Carolina Conference and Carolina Athletic Association for Schools of Choice for high school sports, we didn’t quite know what to expect from our opponents and vice versa.

The Lady Lions Volleyball team came together to finish the season on a high note pushing opponents into 5 sets and nearly knocking off an undefeated Cornerstone Charter Academy, who eventually went on to win the CCC Championship and the CAASC State Championship.

The Men’s Soccer team led by All-State members Jacob White, Brandon Caudill, and Mason Gore won the CCC Championship and made it into the CAASC State Tournament where they fell in the first round to Noble Academy, a final four team.

Middle School Cross Country runners Nate Haley, Addison Causey, Kaali McCullough, and Isaac Gates ran times that made them eligible to participate in the CCC High School Championship. Addison and Nate both finished top 10 in the conference and qualified for the CAASC State Championship. Addison went on to finish 5th in the state.  Nate and Addison as 8th graders brought home CCC All- Conference and CAASC All-State honors.  And not to be overlooked, Addison and Kaali finished 1st in the middle school CCISAA conference championship in early October.

Middle school soccer had the largest turnout this year with 21 team members. They gave opponents a good run in the CCISAA.  We are looking forward to putting in work in the off season and coming back out as contenders next season.

Finally, another congratulations to the middle school Lady Lions Volleyball team for a back-to-back championship season in the CCISAA. The girls had two losses in the season against Burlington Christian Academy who they came face to face with in the CCISAA Championship. Our girls started strong and never gave up. They battled a very skilled, very talented BCA team to win in 2 sets. Skylar Green and Ena Cabrera were named All Conference with their MVP teammate Leah Mitchell.

What a season!  The Lions are already back in training this time for Basketball and Cheerleading season.  We are looking forward to making some noise on the court this winter!
